Accented Characters

If you are working with a French or Spanish keyboard, special characters (i.e. letters with accents, or ASCII characters) can be entered normally. However, if you have an English keyboard, you can still enter them as follows: hold down the ALT key and type in a three-digit code on the number pad.

If this does not work, ensure that the "Num Lock" on your keyboard is activated (it should be at the top left of your number pad). By the way, ASCII means "American Standard Code Information Interchange" and is just an agreed upon standard from which everyone can work.
