ACACIA-L is an unmoderated list designed to foster a dialogue on some of the key issues surrounding the use of ICTs in African development. The Acacia Initiative is an international effort to empower sub-Saharan African communities with the ability to apply information and communication technologies to their own social and economic development. Launched by IDRC, the initiative takes an integrated approach to addressing applications, technology, infrastructure and policy issues. Acacia intends to tackle these issues with a community focus and to do so within an integrated framework that builds into the program a strong element of continuous learning.
