Communities and societies around the world are seeking out new visions of a sustainable future for their citizens and their children. This can involve increasing public participation in decision-making processes; implementing community-based management systems; restoring and conserving local environments and cultures; improving health and sanitation; and creating livelihood options for traditionally disadvantaged segments of the people like youth, women and indigenous peoples.
